Harmful life style practices and associated factors among fishermen in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu: a cross sectional study

Background: Tobacco and alcohol consumption are considered as major public health problems in the world. The strenuous nature of job, long irregular working hours, stay sea while fishing may lead to an increased rate tobacco fishermen. Aim study was find out prevalence harmful lifestyle practices among fishermen, also association between selected variables fishermen.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional carried 275 fishermen Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu during October 2021 March 2022. Pre tested, semi-structured proforma used collect data about basic socio-demographic variables, detailed occupational history, status intake. Data were entered Microsoft excel analysis done using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 17.Results: proportion cigarette smoking, chewing 24.7%, 15.3% 19.6% respectively. Variables such boat ownership, diabetes, hypertension, sleep duration, income found be statistically significant.Conclusions: Harmful
